Backup of a "working" Matrix system.

Backup of a "working" Matrix system.

Postby nwies » Wed Mar 04, 2015 6:01 am

hello,

I have set a "correct" linux distribution on my Matrix.
I would like to test others OS but be able to roll back to this working system.

How can I backup it on a computer (windows, linux) ?

Could someone provide an howto ?

Thanks

I don't think there is howto anywhere. But it could be possible to use MfgTool2 to read whole eMMC content to image file.

Thanks vpeter's advice :) have not tried this,
But maybe you can have a try to tar the whole filesystem just in eMMC ,because eMMC size should be ok : )
and our matrix support samba ,you can direct copy all the files too

Thanks

Kind Regards

True. Just dd-ing and gzip-ing whole /dev/mmcblk0.
But doing this on running system .... not advisable. Be sure to stop all unnecessary processes.
