Screen judder on WMC 7 and AMD 6450

Screen judder on WMC 7 and AMD 6450

Hi,

I recently bought a 6280 to replace my NOVA T-500 to get Freeview HD. I am having a problem with a couple of things and I'm not sure if they're related:

1) The signal for HD channels never gets above 44% (in WMC 7). All my normal Freeview channels are 87% upwards
2) For HD channels e.g. football, F1, I am getting some screen judder (my screen is running at 50Hz)

I am not sure if for some reason the card is faulty (giving the low HD channel strength). I have checked on 411 info and mostly the refresh rate doesn't change from 50 and therefore I am not convinced it's the 25/50 Hz (or 29/59 Hz in US) bug that people mention. I have the latest Catalyst drivers (13.4) with no post processing on apart from Automatic De-Interlacing and pulldown detection.

Normal SD channels are perfect by the way.

When I received the box from the supplier it also had a broken seal which was a little worrying.

So, firstly, do signals get reported correctly in WMC7? If so, is maybe my card faulty and not getting the most from my signal?

Thanks
Mark

Have a look at this thread:

The AMD 6450 is supposed to be one of the better cards for avoiding video problems. All I can suggest is turning off ALL post processing to see if that fixes the problem. If it does, then try turning on each post-processing feature one at a time to find the one that causes the problem.

I use Nvidia graphics cards, and I found a problem with flashing/flickering on high definition broadcasts; see this thread:

The solution for me was to try a different version of the Nvidia drivers (not necessarily the most-recent version). It might be worth trying different versions of the AMD drivers to see if that can fix your problem.

Hi,

With regards to the forum entry "viewtopic.php?f=61&t=7615", it was never answered so it wasn't any help I'm afraid. So I have no idea if the card is faulty or it's a fault in the drivers. My signal is very good on normal SD and HD (when using the in-built Panasonic TV Tuner).

The nVidia issue is very specific to nVidia. I have disabled all post processing features and I'm still getting the issue.

Maybe I do have a faulty card???

Thanks
