Linux TVserver 3.2.0-32-generic #51-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 26 21:33:09 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux and last drivers.
and 5 cards TBS6984, cards defined by the system. But there is no LOCK.
All dmesg output with "options saa716x_tbs_dvb int_type=1 verbose=1" string in /etc/modprobe.d/tbs.conf - http://paste.ubuntu.com/1342809/

Hi Fantom,

I can tell you from experience, its most probably not going to be the cards, its going to be your PC Motherboard BIOS.
I know this sounds strange because one would immediately assume its going to be the TBS card because that is the bit that doesn't work but I actually had a similar problem not too long ago and it drove me absolutely bananas and was totally the fault of the PC motherboard BIOS. Updating it resolved the issue 100% immediately with no other fiddling required or anything like that.

So do yourself a favour, ALWAYS update your motherboard BIOS and then you'll most probably find that you won't get any more errors like this.
I think it should be a standard practice to update to latest BIOS of motherboard because the PC motherboard manufacturers of late release them too quickly into the market place without proper bug testing and so not only with the TBS cards you'll have problems but also with other cards such as graphics cards etc... The forums are riddled with complaints about external cards but when in fact it is the PC motherboard BIOS that is the fault. Fixing IT will fix your problem most likely.

Just leave an update on this forum after you update the BIOS, I think it will benefit everyone that is having such problems.
Here is a site to help you how to update motherboard BIOS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPKx8a96fwI
It sounds harder than it really is, but follow the video, you can't go wrong and you'll only benefit but because you get the same problem on both Linux and Windows, there is a very high probability that a BIOS update will fix this issue for you.
It is recommended that you follow the second method in this video which starts at 1:55, its the fastest and easiest way.

Cheers

I tested the performance cards on 3 different computers with different motherboards, the result is the same.

Fantom,

Can you please post the output of this command: "dmesg | grep frontend"
Note: Obviously without the exclamation marks ""

Then after that, please provide the software and command you are using to lock on signal

This will give more information on your problem.

Cheers
