Issues with HD channels

Postby mpmc » Sun Jul 24, 2011 8:37 am

Hi all.

I'm having issues with the UK Freesat HD channels randomly glitching under kaffeine on Kubuntu 11.04 64bit, by glitching I mean audio pops & slow down of picture, when I pause & let it buffer it plays back fine no issues or anything, Is this a fault with the box or kaffeine?

I know I could just pause and let it timeshift for a few minutes but it's rather annoying having to pause it every time I change channel.

Other than that I'm extremely pleased with the device.

Any advice would be gratefully received :D

This is caused by:
* Small buffer size in Kaffeine (I don't remember how to change it)
* Poor quality or signal. Maybe adjusting your dish and lnb can help. Or with a more big dish.

Thanks for your reply.
I'll look into the buffer problem, I've tested the box on three machines My Windows 7 64bit Intel i5 machine bluescreens when I try to scan for channels using TBSViewer or WMC. My Windows 7 64bit Nettop AMD Neo II works perfectly fine using TBSViewer & WMC when watching SD channels, I know it's too underpowered to do HD and finally my Kubuntu 11.04 64bit Intel C2D has the issues with Kaffeine on HD again SD perfectly fine.

Just done a quick google & found this regarding the buffering issue, I'll update if this fixes it.

Update:

Increasing the buffer size & turning off deinterlace fixed it, I guess even my C2D isn't fast enough
