Hi,
Unfortunately I haven't been able to precisely establish the cause.
I explained the issue to my supplier (QuietPC.com - who have been fantastic from beginning to end) and they offered to exchange the card and IR cable, etc. and asked me to return it. I said I'd rather pay a deposit and get them to send the card first (as it is my main way of watching TV in our Home Theatre setup) and we didn't want to have to ship out into another room (!) so they just agreed to send it anyway.
I swapped it over and initially the remote didn't work but then, probably after one or maybe two reboots of the system (I generally leave it running all the time) I tried operating the remote when the intial splash screen appeared on start-up (I've opted to hide it on reboot now) and I noticed I could get the cursor to move from text box to text box by pressing the arrow keys on the remote. After that it has worked ever since.
So, I am unsure whether the card change was absolutely necessary (and it did cost me £6 or so to post the old one back). If I was you I'd check everything as I did (iPad/iPhone check that the remote is working, Notepad check, etc) then if no success, I'd remove the card and wait say 30 minutes and then refit and reboot and then get the cursor on the opening TBS splash screen (where you can select your viewing software - Windows Media Cehtre or whatever) and see if your remote can move the cursor around from box to box. If so, it must be a softweare/setup problem.
Ironically, since I've fixed it I almost always use the IR mouse and ignore the remote as I have got used to it!
Let me know how you get on.
