New Remote Stopped Working - HELP

New Remote Stopped Working - HELP

Postby Snakes » Fri Sep 14, 2012 7:06 pm

I recently purchased and installed this card. My PC is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit O.S.

I downloaded the latest version of TBS-VHID which I think is "TBS IR Software V1.0.0.8." and installed this and opted for the Windows Media Center set up and it all worked fine several times and we were impressed with the functionality as before we had a Hauppauge card and had to use a mouse to navigate WMC.

A few days later we noticed the remote had stopped working completely. I have tried new batteries, uninstalling and re-installing the VHID software all to no effect.

What do you guys suggest I try next? What more info/data can I provide to help the community solve this problem?

Another issue is that I do get the two screens asking me to "Choose Device" and to sekect the "Profile Set" each time I restart the PC but doubt this is connected but it is a bit of a nuisance that my choices are not remembered.

Over to you guys.... :roll

Hi Snakes

Here is a simple way to check your remote is broken,is your phone has a camera ,just have a test like this:
http://www.ehow.com/how_8458728_test-tv ... phone.html

When press a key on remote your camera screen will have a bright light.if you can see the light this means that
your remote is ok.

And for your second .
after my test in Win7 ,TBSVHID setting like this:
TBSVHID-Setting.JPG

all shows ok,Please install TBSVHID in the default folder.

Kind Regards

Hi Steven,

Thanks for replying.

I have tried the "Remote Test" with the camera on my iPad and that shows that the remote is definitely working.

I need your help to understand your next instruction.."after my test in Win7,"? Not sure what that means.

"TBSVHID setting like this:" - To get that screen I have to run the TBS VHID program. I can do that and select that "DBViewer" Profile from the drop down menu (although I would run it with the Windows Media Center option) but how do you get the TBSVHID Option screen to open to check that "all shows ok,"?

Then you say "Please install TBSVHID in the default folder." I have already done that and it is in C:\Program Files\TBS Software\TBS VHID

Thanks for your help so far. At least I have eliminated the remote itself as being the problem.

Can you answer the above?

Clive

Sorry Steven, I seem to be having trouble understanding the most simple instructions!

1.Open TBSVHID. OK, I have done that!
2.Open a notebook Not sure what a notebook is but assume it is something like "Notepad" where simple text can be pasted/saved/etc.?
3.just press the remote's number key ,such as , 1,2,3,4 Tried that.
4.Check the notebook whether have inputted 1,2,3,4, Obviously because I haven't got No 2 right, nothing appears in Notepad

Please be patient with me and try to explain a little more simply - sorry!

I have now worked out how to save the settings following you pointing out the Option button - thanks!

Hi Steven,

OK. I loaded Notepad and used my keyboard to enter numbers and that worked. Then I loaded TBSVHID and selected DVBDream. Saved it then tried the remote but got Zilch. Then tried Windows Media Center option with the same result.

So, whilst the remote is emitting IR (from first iPad test) I cannot (anymore) get it to work with my PC.

Thanks for your perserverence. What next?

Hi Steven,

I tried unplugging the remote receiver cable from the card and then replacing it but that has no effect and it still isn't working.

I haven't got another pc to try it on so that test is not an option.

I just can't understand why it worked initially for the first few days and now doesn't - wierd!

Any other ideas?
