Remote in Windows 7

Remote in Windows 7

Postby phi » Mon Mar 26, 2012 5:52 pm

Hello,
recently I have bought a TBS 5922 and it works fine so far under WIndows 7 x64. The only thing which does not work is the remote.
The driver (2.0.2.7) istalled the HID-Interface which I can see in the Device Manager. But so far there is no way, that I can map inputs to any actions.

I searched the web on how I could map inputs to actions and it seems, that there is a software from TBS which should do that (VHID-Tool). But after installations it tells me during startup that there is no TBS product installed and quits.

I also tried TBSViewer but the remote is not recognized as well. At least I can see, that the TBS 9522 is receiving a signal, because a weak light is lighting up when I press the remote.

So my question is, how do I get the remote work under windows 7 x64?

The final goal is to use it with mediaportal, which should work through using the "General HID" interface.

Any help is very much appriciated.
Regards
Philipp

Hi phi

TBSVHID only work on our new PCI-E cards. PCI and USB device can not use this.
and TBS5922 use HID-Interface to use remote.it should be ok on MCE and other application
which have supported TBS5922's remote.
if you want to map the actions there will be some difficult.you need to rewrite the HID-Interface's driver inf file.

Steven,

When I press a button on my remote it wakes up my Windows from screensaver mode. That's ok, But is it possible to launch for example my TV application by pressing POWER button on my remote, by using the technique you mentioned above?
My TV application SmartDVB support the remote in native mode. I can control everything except that I have to come out of bed to launch the TV application manually everytime. I have set in SmartDVB power button to be "EXIT application" and my windows goes back in Screensaver in few minutes(which is perfect), but If I want to turn it on I have to go to PC again everytime. Such a feature would be nice addition.

Thanks

Hi imperia

TBS5922 maybe can not do this.Just can customer shortcut key on keyboard.
If you want to launch some program, our new PCI-E card which use NXP7160 bridge maybe can do this.
It can use TBSVHID tools so maybe it can config like this.

Thanks

Well PCI-E cards don't work for laptops :)

When I press key on remote it wakes my Windows from screensaver mode. So Windows is intercepting that as event(like when I press key on my keyboard). But how to assign that event to specific action? I guess its possible.

Hi steven,

so I looked up your link and played around a little bit, but nothing happens. I even couldn't figure out, if the remote control is working at all under windows. I started to configure the "1"-key, which is also mentioned in the example. I successfully remapped the the "1"-key on the keyboard, but there is no reaction at all from the remote. Not in TBSViever, not in Mediaportal, not in MediaCenter.
Is there any way to see if Windows receives any signal from the remote?

Thanks

I only know that when my Windows goes in screensaver mode. When I press ANY key on the remote It wakes it up! So windows receives events from remote

Hi,

yesterday I installed dvbdream. The remote works in there. So at least it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem. I also could see the activity in the log of dvbdream. Nevertheless nothing to see in the log of mediaportal. It doesn't receive anything.

I wonder why nobody else with a USB device from TBS has any problem with the remote. I checked a few other drivers for the GeneralHID Interface and they seem all the same.

Cheers
