Unable LOCK Transponders of C band using SCAN/SZAP(Solved))

Postby mirzaaaamir » Mon Dec 03, 2012 5:21 pm

Please help me out to lock transponders using scan/szap utility. Before gettig into this, I am successfully running TBS Quad Port card in Windows for our Mobile TV platform in Pakistan.
I installed Debian 6 and installed TBS drivers. All seems OK but when I try to scan, it comes back with errors. I have gone through all forums, helps, and README's provided in Drivers. Unable to understand where is the mistak.

Need Help/tip to get out of this.
Have attached 3 files for review.

Hi Aamir Raza

To lock C-Band with scan-s2 and szap-s2 you must to use "-l C-BAND" parameter. Or use " -l help " to see more lnb options.

If this not solve your problem, please put errors of scan-s2 and szap-s2.

Best regards

Hi Aamir.
Can you tell me in which satellite it's this frequency? What LNB are you using and antenna diameter?

And if you can (and if you didn't it before), try the same with all adapters
Code: Select All Code
szap-s2 -a 0 -O 35 -S 1 -C 34 -M 2 -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf -l C-BAND "8xm"
szap-s2 -a 1 -O 35 -S 1 -C 34 -M 2 -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf -l C-BAND "8xm"
szap-s2 -a 2 -O 35 -S 1 -C 34 -M 2 -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf -l C-BAND "8xm"
szap-s2 -a 3 -O 35 -S 1 -C 34 -M 2 -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf -l C-BAND "8xm"

Dear Sergio
Thanks for your response. Here are the links for you to see the channels and frequencies

http://www.lyngsat.com/Paksat-1R.html (TV Channel = 8 XM)
http://www.flysat.com/asiasat3s.php (TV CHannel = ARY Digital)

8Xm (PAKSAT 1R)is in port 0 and ARY (ASIA SAT 3S)is in port 1. I have plugged these ports not the rest 2 and 3. LNB is Single Solution LNB and same setup is working fine in Windows Based TBS 6984 with DVB Dream Lock. Dish is 3.8 meters. I am also running these channels from same Dish Antennas at Osprey Cards. Only facing lock problems in linux based TBS 6984.

Do you think, Card might be faulty ? I have just imported it and plugged first time in linux machine because having delays in transcoding via Windows based machines.

Hi Aamir.

If it's working in windows, no problem with TBS6984 or instalation.
Try this
Code: Select All Code
szap-s2 -a 0 -O 35 -S 1 -C 34 -M 2 -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf -l C-BAND "8xm"
szap-s2 -a 1 -O 35 -S 1 -C 34 -M 2 -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf -l C-BAND "8xm"
szap-s2 -a 2 -O 35 -S 1 -C 34 -M 2 -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf -l C-BAND "8xm"
szap-s2 -a 3 -O 35 -S 1 -C 34 -M 2 -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf -l C-BAND "8xm"

because frontend enumeration in linux is different in window.

Best regards.

Do you think, I need to re-install the drivers. My machine is running "Linux TNC-SRVR 2.6.32-5-amd64 #1 SMP Sun Sep 23 10:07:46 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux"

Is 64 bit Debian OK OR should I upgrade it to kernel 3 ??

Hi Aamir.

I think you don't need reinstall drivers. But before reinstall it, see dmesg log.
And please, try to use other adapter without change anything in your instalation

Code: Select All Code
szap-s2 -a 0 -l C-BAND -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf "8xm"
szap-s2 -a 1 -l C-BAND -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf "8xm"
szap-s2 -a 2 -l C-BAND -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf "8xm"
szap-s2 -a 3 -l C-BAND -c /root/tbs/szap-s2/channel.conf "8xm"

The difference in this lines are in "-a " parameters, where you can select adapters, additionally, quit other parameters not needed in this case.

Best regards.

Dear Sergio
Thanks a lot for your support and help. Issue has been resolved. There were 2 confusion due to which I was going mad. Cables was plugged in TunerA and B respectively while I was tunning adapter0 and 1. TunerA is adapter3 and TunerB is adapter2. Secondly, it was DVB-S and I was dragging it with DVB-S2.
Just one more question/confusion, Scan utility got the channels and locked them. Do I also need to run szap and what is there If machine gets reboot ? Should I put this SCAN command in rc.local so everytime, it should scan itself when reboots ?

Best Regards

Hi Aamir.

I'm not sure if I understand your question.
With scan utility you can obtain a channel list and you must to copy this list and save in a file to use with szap.
Then use szap -c /path/to/your/channellist

Best regards.
