Unicable Support under Debian

I'm new to the forum and not experienced with Linux.

I try to get the TBS 5980 QBox working on my Netgear ReadyNas RN102. The TBS QBox is attached to a unicable multiswitch for two different satelites (Astra 19.2E and Hotbird 13.0E). The Netgear RN102 is running a Debian version.

As TV Software I started with DVBLink and, as I DVBLink was not able to get the channels tuned, I now tried TVHeadend, but with the same problem: channel tuning!

I involved the DVBLink support (see http://forum.dvblogic.com/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=26850&sid=b69846404389e3958cee935ea448ba84), but finally there is no clear answer to my problem.

Is there anybody out there, that has a TBS QBox 5980 working under Debian in a unicable environment with two satelite dishes?

Regards,
Michael

The device itself is okay. I tested it under Windows 7 with DVBViewer in my unicable environment and it works fine. Is there anything I need to consider under Debian? I got the feeling that the unicable commands are not properly generated by the Linux driver or both programs (DVBLink and TVHeadend), because the TVHeadend installation identifies some channels, which seem to be the same channels that an old DBox finds, which is not unicable capable.

Is this forum still alive or is there nobody out having the QBox 5980CI working in a unicable environment under Linux? :?:

As there is no reaction to my post and question I assume that the TBS 5980CI is not working under Linux in a unicable environment. Can anybody from TBS either confirm my assumption or let me know, what might be the reason for the problem I have?

Unicable - also called Single Cable Distribution - is a transimission technology in satellite installations. It allows to connect several devices to one cable behind a multi switch. The different devices are connected on separate frequencies over this cable. More details you can find in Wikipedia here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_cable_distribution.

It looks as if unicable uses diseqc, so send the right command and it should work.

Sending the right diseqc command is the task of the Viewer SW, I use (DVBLink TVSource). The link to the according Forum post is at the top. By the way, I also tried TVHeadend as viewer. This does not work either. That's the reason the TBS Linux drive comes to my focus.

You can confirm that the Linux driver works fine a unicable (single cable distribution) environment?

Nope. Never used it.

The user software makes the diseqc command and the kernel sends it to the hardware.

The card and kernel support diseqc. Weather your app does or not I have no clue. Either way it's nothing todo with tbs
