In my HTPC I substituted the Compro VideoMate S350 with the TBS 8921 to be able to continue to watch BBC HD (after their switch to DVB-S2). After installing the card + drivers (downloaded from TBS website, the correct ones - all looks good in Device Manager with two entries in the video section and one in the HMI section) I went through the "Setup TV Signal" procedure in WMC (Windows 7 32bit) and I received the first surprise: I was suggested to use Hotbird 6, 7A, 8 and was shown a strong signal for this satellite when my dish is aimed at Astra 2D. I changed manually to Astra 2D and although it showed no signal strength, I finished the WMC setup process. WMC seemed to pick up a few satellite channels (the total moved from 85 with the DVB-T tuner only to 105 after adding the TBS8921) but way less than expected (the Compro VideoMate S350 picked up hundreds with the same signal), and anyway when I tried to watch one of the few channels it picked up I got the message "No TV Signal".

I also tried to use the TBS8921 with the included TBSviewer, but when I went to Options... Hardware there was no card in the hardware list. At least WMC found the card!...

Anything suggestions or should I just return the card? Thanks!

I will try the version of TBSViewer you suggest tonight - I used the one in the CD.
I haven't used dvbdream, what is it and where can I find it?

So this is where we stand...

I installed the updated version of TBSViewer and this one recognizes the TBS8921. I scan the channels on Astra 2 by range and it found more than 6,000, but then none of those I tried (BBC, ITV, Channel 4...) worked - no image no sound.

I continued to test on WMC and realized that my satellite feed is for two satellites via DiSEqC, Astra 2 and Hotbird 6, 7A, 8. So I re-run TV Setup on WMC choosing the option for DiSEqC, but it shows good signal for Hotbird, no signal for Astra (keep in mind that I was using the Compro VideoMate S350 on Astra 4 days ago, so I know the signal is there).

So no luck with Astra, either on TBSViewer or on WMC, while Hotbird seems to work. A problem with the card?

Hi you means that Hotbird is ok you can see,but Astra can not,
if Hotbird is ok,so the card is ok,maybe some config is not ok,
and do you have tried dvbdream ?

Steven, I might have identified the problem - I believe it is the DiSEqC communication between the TBS 8921 card and my DiSEqC switch. I ended up entering the raw DiSEqC command E0 10 39 F0 W0100 E0 10 39 F0 (i.e. the command to switch to LNB1 repeated twice, with a 100ms wait in the middle) in DVBLogic's TVSource and it is now successfully scanning channels on Astra 2.

Next question is, can I change the way the card sends DiSEqC commands to fix this problem without needing DVBLogic's TVSource - and saving the EUR 20 it costs?
