Is that true? Did you take part in making TBS6925 or writing drivers for it? Did anyone try to watch 16APSK transponders (i.e. from 13Е DVB-S2/16APSK
11334 H 27500 2/3 11432 V 27500 2/3) with 6925 in Europe?
PS. Rename PCIe DVB-S2 TV Tuner card TBS6920 in PCIe DVB-S2 TV Tuner card TBS692x on top of this forum, please.

hi,

TBS 6925 is one of our upcoming new products and we will test it very soon in practice in Europe on all available 16APSK/32APSK transponders there like the one you mentioned on Hotbird 13E, but at least so far on our tests with signal generator it can lock stable both 16APSK and 32APSK.

after we released TBS 6925 and it goes into mass production we will add separate section in the forum for it.

Tell me, please, what chips of tuner (under radiator) and demodulator (I can't see it on 6925-1.jpg) are in TBS6925 comparing with 69xx and 89xx?

TBS 6925 uses NIM module based on design from ST Microelectronics for professional users that need 16APSK/32APSK support and incorporated their "advanced" series of chips.

TBS 6980 uses second generation of dual DVB-S2 chips from Conexant/NXP (CX24117 + CX24132) - they are really great in my opinion and i like them very much, but they don't have 16APSK/32APSK, which i believe at least for the time being is important only for limiter number of professional users.

TBS 6920/8920 use first generation of single DVB-S2 chips from Conexant/NXP (CX24116 + CX24118A).

Many thanks, but on the photo of the 6925 i see big Connexant chip. I think it is demodulator. Am I right? What CX??? And what can you say about price of 6925?

that Conexant chip is PCI-Express bridge chip and it has nothing to do with DVB-S2.

the price will be higher, but still affordable, than our other DVB-S2 card, because the cost of 16APSK/32APSK capable NIM module is very high.

Thanks a lot, cody.

I thought that too, but I wrote my previous post from mobile telephone and it was hard for me write a lot.
You said, that CX24117 + CX24132 is great combination of tuner and demodulator. Did you mean that NIM module based on design from ST Microelectronics worse in 8PSK and QPSK?

yes, i like their performance on TBS 6980 - it's better than first generation of DVB-S2 chips.

i haven't compared CX24117 + CX24132 directly with the NIM on TBS 6925 and so i can't tell yet, but the NIM on TBS 6925 is intended for profession use and so i doubt the performance is worse.
