Hey there,

I get this error in dmesg on my 6891:
[ 21.517047] cx25840 2-0044: firmware v4l-cx23885-avcore-01.fw load failed
[ 21.524868] cx23885_dvb_register() allocating 1 frontend(s)
[ 21.524874] cx23885[0]: cx23885 based dvb card
[ 21.525933] tbs6981fe: module license 'TurboSight Proprietary: www.tbsdtv.com' taints kernel.
etc....

The card works ok, but I would like to know if this is something that I should be worried about. I've tried switching the firmware with the one that comes with the TBS driver bundle which gives the same results.

My system is running Ubuntu 12.04.2 on kernel 3.5.0-26-generic with driver version 130318.

Thanks,
Ali.

cx25840 is analogue TV core inside cx23885 chip, but there is no any analogue TV functionality implemented on 6981 card and that's why cx25840 core of cx23885 chip is not used on 6981 board. so, maybe on your 6981 card the cx25840 core part of the cx23885 chip is broken, but since it's not used for digital TV that's why everything works as it should be. however, if you wish you can RMA the card - that way we can check your old card too, because it's the first time we have such case and we use cx23885 for a very long time in different products.
