Can anyone recommend me a linux media distribution that works well with this card INCLUDING the remote control?
Even if it is an older version?
I would really like to get it working with remote control.

I was reading about remote control in mythtv. Unfortunatelly mythtv (and mythubuntu) require lirc to work.
Maybe, you can test yaVDR ( http://www.yavdr.org ) but read carefully, this is a beta and in home page said:

"yet another VDR" (yaVDR) is a Linux distribution focussed on Klaus Schmidingers Video Disk Recorder and based on Ubuntu Linux.

Although yaVDR works quite well already, there are many things that are either buggy or don't work automatically yet. So we don't recommend it for productive usage in case you have no experiences in configuring VDR manually.

Personally, I prefer Debian + VDR + plugin-remote.

Thanks but I was able to ffigure out a way to use mythbuntu with the remote without lirc (which really didn't work),, see other post
