Since there is no way to post into the 6981 forum (no new topic button) I have to post here. Please fix the 6981 forums so I can post in the right place.

I received a 6981 yesterday and I have had no end of trouble trying to get it to work. I am running a fresh install of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, 8GB ram I7-650 on a Asus P7P55D-E LX board.
In Device Manager I have the following Devices. I am not sure if there should be more since the Manual is for another card.

TBSViewer most of the time won't open up but sometimes after I run it and wait 5 minutes and open windows media center then it will open. Sometimes.

I also get this error comming up in it

I have also tried ProgDVB 6. When I install it I see the hardware.

When I follow the Manual and copy the BDA.Device into the Module directory I loose the hardware. I also can not get Windows Media Center to work with the card. I have had it tune in a station once via TBSViewer but no other software will work with the card. I have to do a scan each time with TBSViewer when I start it as it looses the settings or LNB info from the previous scan.

I have just put windows 7 x86 on and TBSViewer opens and plays much better. I setup media center and found the stations on the transponder but nothing will play in media center it says channel unavailable but it plays fine with TBSViewer.

It looks like some work needs to be done on TBSViewer for x64 configuration but I can't get any video on either x86 or x64 media center.

thank you, i will inform my colleagues to fix the 6981 section in the forum.

about TBS 6981 issues:

- Device Manager looks OK to me

- TBSViewer is very new and the problem you're experiencing is known, i'm not sure if the new version that fixes the problem is already released or yet to be released soon, but it's nothing with it i can help you right now

- i don't know what's wrong with ProgDVB module on the installation CD and i need to check that, but if you don't need DiSEqC support then build-in ProgDVB module that correctly recognizes the card should at least work for scanning and watching channels. so, did you try to scan and watch channels with build-in ProgDVB module?

- Windows 7 Media Center (W7MC) should work, because everything necessary for W7MC support is inside the driver. so, did you configure W7MC following the configuration wizard with going to:

Windows Media Center -> Tasks -> settings -> TV -> TV Signal -> Set Up TV Signal

after you complete the wizard you should be able to scan single frequency with going to:

Windows Media Center -> Tasks -> settings -> TV -> TV Signal -> Satellite Transponder Scan -> Single transponder scan

and then found channels during the scan will appear in the list of channels and you can select them and watch them with going to:

Windows Media Center -> TV -> live tv

i hope that will help you, but in any case, please, share with us how it's going with getting the software running.

This error for TBSViewer occurs when more than one TBSViewer application were initiated. The TBSViewer is very new, we're fixing the bug and a new version will be released soon.

The previous BDA.Device file is for ProgDVB 5.X version only, for ProgDVB 6.X version, please download the latest TBS.eBDA file here http://www.buydvb.net/download2/common/ProgDVB_device.rar and put the file in ProgDVB "Modules" folder. Then it should detect the TBS tuners automaticly and you can enable either Tuner A or B from "device list".

Or you can try DVBDream V1.5d for TBS6981, you can download DVBDream bundle version for TBS TV tuner here http://www.buydvb.net/download2/common/dvbdream_setup_v15d.rar

I have managed to get the card to work fine with Windows 7 X86. However my main build is with X64. I keep getting issues like Hardware not found when using TBSViewer.

And Media Center locking up.

does Windows 7 X86 installation on different computer than the Windows 7 X64 installation? if so, i believe we can be sure it's not Windows 7 X86 versus Windows 7 X64 issue, but something in your computer with Windows 7 X64 is causing the trouble, because of the fact that your TBS 6981 card is working in another computer and you get "Hardware not found" on the other one more suggests that something is wrong with the hardware (like PCI-Express slots) of that computer or something wrong with your Windows 7 X64 installation. please, give more information about it, but bear in mind that TBS 6981 driver for x86 and x64 can't cause such troubles and difference, because it's the same driver source code just built for x86 and x64 Windows using Microsoft tools for that and thus it's something else for sure.

It is the same machine. I just change the sata cable from one drive to another. I am still playing around with it to see whats happening.

then it sounds more like something went wrong with your installation of Windows 7 x64, because as far as i understood with your Windows 7 x86 installation on the same computer hardware everything is fine.

Nothing wrong with my W7 x64 installation. I have just re-installed it and I get everything working in all software except Media Center which is what I brought the card for.

What information can I provide which will help resolve this problem. I can get it to play in x86 media center just not x64 as previously stated.
I am hoping it is some sort of driver/codec issue with X64

Well I have some sucess, although not what I expected.

When I scan 12734, 22500 V Media Center find 23 channels but none of them work. However when I do a full sat scan rather then a transponder, it find another version of the program broadcasting, so I can get 1 of the 2 channels I am after.

So the card is working with X64 but I have to play around with it more to work out why it won't work on the transponer specified.
