GA-E350N-USB3 Compatiblity

I am building a new HTPC based on the new Hudson-M1 from AMD. The motherboard I have bought is a Gigabyte GA-E350N-USB3. I bought a 6981 for this PC as I was pleased with the first one I bought for another PC.

I built the PC and got Windows 7 on no problems. The next day the tv card arrived, I put it in , but the machine will not POST. No POST beeps - nothing. I tried my other 6981 and got the same problem.

When I took the card out out it boots again without problem.

I tired another power supply and I am giving the 6981's full power with the supplied adapter. Still the problem persists.

I sent the motherboard back to the supplier thinking it was faulty, but they have tested it and found it to be OK, they have charged me for testing and have sent it back to me.

Is there any reason why this should not work, could there be a compatibility issue? There motherboard has 1 PCIE v2.0 x16 running at x4.
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3681#ov

From what I understand from reading in this forum the 6981 should work in any PCIE slot v1.0/2.0 and x1, x4, x8, x16.

Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks,
Rod

We checked all card which have CX23885 chip not only 6981 that have the problem too,so we think it maybe the chip's compatible problem.

Hi,
impressive support you offer!

I am thinking about buying this card too, and i would like to use it on a "ASUS E35M1-I Deluxe" motherboard.
Does the problem with the gigabyte mobo also apply to the ASUS board?
I was just thinking, because it uses the same CPU and chipset and I dont want to run into the same problem.

Thanks for you help.
Cheers,
MS

Hi ms1964
ASUS E35M1-I Deluxe is AMD Hudson M1 chipset, and i think it will be ok.
because all the problem motherboard which is the intel chipset ,and intel chipset is not compatible with 1.0a PCI-E,but it can resolved by update the BIOS,like gigabyte.

Thanks

Hi Steven,
thanks for the clarification, I was obviously wrong regarding the chipset.

So I think I'll go for the TBS-6981.
Cheers,
