I'm using a TBS6983 with the v 1.0.0.7 windows driver on Win 7 64 bit with Crazycat 1.0.2.123 and EBSpro v 13.2.0.1 but have yet to be able to receive anything on APSK. It may be that I have not found a transponder with video or audio. It works with other modulation types.

I have noticed that the modes sometimes jump between QPSK and APSK and/or the FEC changes. This happens with SNRs of 15-19dB. Sometimes data appears to pass to VLC but the de-muxed data rate is very low. VLC sometimes shows CODECs in the media information. I have uploaded 2 Crazyscan constellation plots from 12.5W. The 12605h.png plot was of a transponder that satfeeds.info showed as a MotoGP feed, logged 30 minutes before I looked. With an SNR of 19dB I would have expected to see something. EBSpro scan timed out on this.

Is this a problem with the card, software or me? Any ideas welcome, please.

It is like the symbol rate is too low ,when lock this transponder need better signal ,what about other APSK transponder is it ok?
such as the bigger symbol rate TP.

Thanks for the reply. With an SNR of 19dB (on the 12605 TP which should have been a OB feed) I would have expected to get good data. I found this example of someone getting a good result from an SNR <10dB and a worse looking constellation: https://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/thr ... ost-946825 The only differences I can see are that the Sky signal used CCM not ACM/VCM and a "single input stream" as opposed to a MIS but with only one input (Multi(0))

I have tried many other APSK signals and none seem to be decoded even though they show very low BERs. I have attached another plot from a higher data rate signal that also does not do much. I tried putting some transponder parameters in DVBDream and that does not work. When using EBSPro, although it shows a zero BER and high signal, there is still no data transfer from APSK transponders or a very low data rate (<<100kb/s).

I tried some transponders on 23.5E. Those marked by satfeeds.info as feeds locked and showed zero BER but still did not do much else. I wondered if it could be the phase noise of the LNB or the 2dB ripple in the noise floor (indicating a mis-match) but the constellations look quite clean. I have quite good SNRs on a lot of transponders from a 1.5m prime dish.

Thanks for your test ,for GS stream support it is like need to use the latest firmware of ST we will have a check with crazycat which version he is using.

Thanks. I did find a TP that gave occasional bursts of audio on VLC via Crazyscan but I didn't have time to capture much. It was 24.5W 11058V 24354ks/s 3/4 FEC 32APSK ACM SNR=14.4dB Bit rate=90.6Mb/s MIS=1

You will not be able to see clearly the video stream in mode 16 or 32 APSK with tools that we have(tsanalyze,dvbs players,etc)!If in 16APSK there are some feeds that can be seen,not the same thing can be said about 32APSK.If you want to figure out what it is on such a generic stream, you must record it with the TBS Record tool or a Analyzer(tsreader or tsanalyser),then you use a player,for instance,of Potplayer.But even in this case,it will be hard to realize the contents of that stream,because players don't know how to manage the encapsulated streams.And how would you know that since modulation are changing continuously!
And yet,lately appear more often feeds in 16APSK,but to see them you have to hunt them.Regular tv programs are rare in this modulation.Here is a transponder-11448 H,1703,5/6 from 5.0W(SkyTG24 HD)- which has a stream generic and that changes the modulation from QPSK, 8PSK to 32 APSK.In this case we are lucky that we can see in clear partially this stream,because it uses QPSK mode as well.There was also at 90.0E a TV program(8 Kanal) on 10907 V,758,23 in 16 APSK which had the symbol rate of 758 Ks(!!!),but now has left the satellite.
Here is such a generic stream recorded with TBS Record,captured on a transponder which has modulation in 16 APSK.As you can see,image is so blurred that it is impossible to see in clearly with any codec from your computer or with any player.
So these streams,mostly in ACM/VCM code and mode in a 8PSK %/16/32APSK,have a recipient precisely which has a dedicated device.Therefore,you can't see this kind of streams not because of TBS6983 card.So don't depends on how strong the signal is.Unfortunately most generic streams have a a very low Data Rate.And it is not surprising that many packages are missing.
For the time being we still do not have a dvbs card covering everything a regular consumer wants,like most of those who use TBS cards or others.For that you need professional tools,which,as we know,are very expensive. Taking into account price,TBS6983 card is exactly what wants such a consumer.As far as I know there is not a dvbs card that to decode a generic stream.I wish I am wrong in this respect.

satesco, many thanks for the explanation. It is much clearer now and I understand what Crazyscan has been telling me. I have been away from sat tv for a few years and things have moved on!

I finally found an APSK signal that worked, a feed on 8W, so the card itself seems to be fine. (The frequency error is due to my LNB)

i have Date Freq i could lock by by crazyscan, but could not able to lock using TBS Data nor BDADataEx [tbs5925]

You can lock(hard lock mode) the manually signal with Crazyscan using 5925 card.You can use this "trick" with any type of TBS card:
1.lock signal on another transponder(I chose 12505 V),
2.Enter the desired frequency and symbol rate(12678 V,10170--21.6E Eutelsat 21B),and than tick update modulation and blindscan,
3.click Search and ...that' all.

1- what is LNB & wire type + tall & dish type + size ?
2- i guess you are using moded LNB ?
3- confirm you are using win7 x64?
