Can I burn the Debian - based Raspbian os onto my new Matrix?

If not, what are my choices as far as Linux distros are concerned?

I don't like the Unity desktop :)

rossi46, you can install lxde or xfce.
My way was:
- Open a terminal
- sudo apt-get install synaptic
- open synaptic
- search for xfce
- select the xfce meta package an install it.
- click the "power button" at upper right corner - select restart. You will land in a login screen
- in loginscreen is a small arrow, there you can select your preferred Desktop.
- log in and enjoy.

Unfortunately there is no Mate-Desktop.

Greetings,
Albert

@AlberKy, thankyou, I'll give that a go!

Btw, before I purchased my Matrix board, I ummed and awwed of ages before deciding on my purchase. It was the "Install any OS you like" blurb on the homepage that gave me the final push :cry:
