as suspected the same issues with the build from source open source driver, intermittent picking up of the cards (they do seem to be registered but the mythtv front end doesn't show the channels) and kern.log is at 400mb after 30 mins. Thanks for the response Steven This looks like the open source one, which, when I build it from the git repo also causes issues: Card is only intermittently recognized and I get kern.log/syslog filling up my root partition (12G files in a few hours). But I'll try this build and see if it is any diff...
